General

You asked, we listened... In this General section, we address common questions about our backgrounds, language skills, content usage policies, and our comment policy. You'll also find information about where we live, our social media presence, and the diverse range of topics we cover on our site. We believe in fostering a lively, respectful community and sharing our varied interests with our readers.

  • Why does your site include such a strange mix of topics?

Where you see strange, we see interesting. We include things that inspire or amuse us, hoping some of those same things will also capture your imagination or entertain you. It isn’t in the spirit of a discussion in a neighborhood café to limit the topics discussed to a specific genre. Variety is part of what makes conversations compelling.

  • Where do you live?

When we’re not traveling, we currently live in Los Angeles, California. On the site, you will also see references to some of the other many places we’ve lived, including Sydney, Paris, and New York City.

  • Do you have a Facebook page?

No, but you can follow Christine on Instagram and on Threads @christine_heriat

  • What is your comment policy?

We hope the comment section is used to embody the spirit of lively, respectful conversation found at a neighborhood café and to create an interesting, supportive community. We will delete comments that disrespect this spirit, especially those which are mean-spirited or offensive. After all, this is supposed to be fun! We may also delete comments that stray from the topic of the above post or story.

  • Can I use some of your content on my site?

Please contact us via the contact form so we can discuss this with you. Otherwise, copying specific phrases or sentences from another writer without their permission is called plagiarism. David Lebovitz addresses this issue well: https://www.davidlebovitz.com/recipe-attribution/

  • Do you speak French?

Xavier, as a Frenchman, speaks French. Christine also speaks French, which she learned during her time living in Paris. It was a hard-earned skill that involved a lot of embarrassing mistakes and confusion along the way. She considered writing a short story about the experience, but it was far too strange for anyone to believe it to be autobiographical.

Writing related

In the Writing Related section, you'll find details about Christine's short stories, including why she enjoys publishing them on the site and her journey as a writer. We also clarify our current policy on publishing works by other authors and share a bit about Christine's writing background and experience. This section is dedicated to those curious about the creative writing process and Christine's literary endeavors.

  • When did you start writing?

Christine published her first article in the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune when she was fourteen years old. From the time that she reached her mid-twenties, she focused all her writing on her scientific and business careers, and only came back to writing with the purpose of sharing that writing with others six months ago.

  • Will you publish works written by other authors?

We currently do not publish works written by other authors. Christine is but a mere hobbyist writer having some fun sharing her stories via this site. She is not a publisher or editor. If you have a story that you think is a great fit for the site that doesn’t need any editing, and you’re not looking for payment, please get in touch with her through the contact submission form.

  • Why are you publishing short stories on this site?

Because it’s fun! Sharing stories brings joy to both the writer and the readers, creating a space for imagination to thrive. Additionally, it offers a creative outlet and a way to connect with an audience who appreciates the art of storytelling. At Cafe Frenchy, we believe in the power of stories to entertain, inspire, and spark conversations. So why not share them? We hope our readers enjoy reading literary adventures as much as Christine enjoys writing them.

  • Who writes the short stories that appear on the site?

All the short stories are penned by our talented writer, Christine Heriat. Christine brings a unique perspective to her storytelling, drawing from her rich experiences and imaginative mind. Her captivating narratives and vivid character portrayals are a testament to her passion for writing. Food related

The Food Related section provides insights into the origins of our recipes, tips on freezing and storing dishes, and our stance on product recommendations. We emphasize our commitment to sharing only the recipes and products we genuinely use and love, ensuring you get honest and tried-and-true culinary advice.

  • Are you paid for making recommendations?

No. We only make recommendations for products and items we use ourselves. Most of these products and items are things we have been using for years. We include links to make it easier for readers to find the same item if they would like to purchase it, but we do not receive any compensation under any affiliate marketing programs.

  • Should I freeze any of your recipes?

It depends on the recipe. The article above the recipe will mention if it can be frozen, defrosted, and eaten with no negative impact on taste or quality. If it is not mentioned, then we have never tried it. If you try to freeze one of these recipes, we would love to hear how it went in the comments section under the recipe.

  • Where do the recipes on your site come from?

The overview portion of each recipe explains the recipe’s origin. It also includes other interesting facts, tips, and serving suggestions. Links to any related recipes by other cooks and authors will appear at the bottom of the post.
